CARDIOVASCULAR EXERCISE

In the late 1960's Dr. Kenneth Cooper introduced to the American public the concept of aerobics.  It is now often referred to as cardiovasuclar exercise since it gives such great benefits to the heart and circulatory system.  Dr. Cooper's research helped to focus attention on the benefits of moderate intensity exercise undertaken on a regular basis.  Significant changes in the heart, lungs, and muscle tissue come from this type of exercise.  For instance, with 20 minutes of a cardio workout three days a week, there is an improvement in the body's ability to utilize oxygen.  Regular aerobic activity also promotes weight loss and lowers the risk of heart disease, stroke, certain types of cancer, and diabetes.  Aerobic exercise improves blood pressure, blood cholesterol, quality of sleep, energy level, immune system response and general sense of well being. No exercise program would be complete without at least 20 minutes of aerobic activity performed at least three times per week.

We selected StarTrac cardio machines because they have an excellent built-in heart-rate monitor, are easy to operate and have similar displays and programming features, making it simple to move from one machine to another. We offer:

  • 7 Treadmills
  • 2 Star Trac Steppers
  • 4 NuStep Total Body Recumbent Steppers
  • 2 Upright Bikes
  • 5 Recumbent Bikes
  • 1 Spinner NXT Bike
  • 2 Elliptical Total Body Trainers
  • 2 Elliptical Natural Runners
  • 2 Elliptical Trainers
  • 2 Concept II Rowing Ergometers

Four TV sets, each tuned to a different cable channel are visible from the cardio machines. Sound is re-broadcast on FM, so bring a radio to listen to the station you are watching.
